Steve Hollis
Steve Hollis started his sailing career at the age of seven, he grew up racing dinghies, one designs and offshore boats, Steves passion is racing classic boats and cruising.
Having logged thousands of sea miles cruising and racing Steve met his wife Suzanne after a Bermuda One-Two race and today they run Ocean Sails.
At age 13 Steve began working for a local sailmaker learning the traditional art of sailmaking, eventually taking over Ocean Sails.
With the sailmaking industry rapidly changing, Steve joined a fledgling worldwide sailmaking company which enabled Ocean Sails to concentrate on sail service, marine canvas as well as awnings and upholstery. Steve has fabricated canvas goods and upholstery to some of the finest yachts today. Steve has a reputation for crafting beautiful traditional awnings as well as supplying top quality sails to the racing and cruising market.
2019 will mark 50 years of Steve’s commitment to the trade
Suzanne Hollis
SUZANNE, CO-OWNER AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR OF OCEAN SAILS HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THE MARINE INDUSTRY SINCE 1981. SUZANNE STARTED OUT WORKING AT THE MYSTIC MARINELIFE AQUARIUM IN CONNECTICUT, CREATING AND DEVELOPING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND ASSISTING IN THE REHABILITATION OF WHALES AND DOLPHINS.
IN 1985 SHE JOINED HALSEY SAILMAKERS BECOMING BUSINESS MANAGER/ADVERTISING/PUBLIC RELATIONS DIRECTOR AND WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE GROWTH OF THE COMPANY.
SUZANNE’S FURTHER INVOLVEMENT IN THE MARINE INDUSTRY INCLUDED THE FORMATION OF A SYNDICATE FOR THE SPONSORSHIP OF THE 1993/94 WHITBREAD ROUND-THE-WORLD RACE NOW KNOWN AS THE VOLVO RACE. SHE MANAGED CUSTOMER RELATIONS FOR DERECKTOR SHIPYARD’S REPAIR AND REFIT DIVISION, A LARGE SCALE SHIPYARD OPERATION IN NEW YORK.
BEING PART OF OCEAN SAILS SINCE 1996 SUZANNE CONTINUES TO WORK WITH STEVE TO EXPAND THE BUSINESS AND THEIR SERVICES TO THE LOCAL AND TRANSIENT CUSTOMERS. SUZANNE HAS RECENTLY GRADUATED FROM THE NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF ART & DESIGN FOR INTERIOR DESIGN AND IS LOOKING FORWARD TO APPLYING THIS KNOWLEDGE FOR OCEAN SAILS CLIENTELE.
